The Pan-American Aerobiology Association held its annual meeting in Tucson, Arizona during the season of flowering cacti (May 28-June 1, 1999). It was a remarkable time of year to visit the Sonoran Desert. We welcomed all papers dealing with any aspect of Aerobiology. You may be surprised to discover that your research can be defined as Aerobiology. C.S. Cox describes aerobiology as "the science of aerial transport of microorganisms and other microscopic biological materials together with their transfer to the air, their deposition and the ensuing consequences for life forms including the microscopic entities themselves." This years conference brought together aerobiologists from around the country to the University of Arizona to present research of mutual interest. Our coccidioidomycosis (cocci) research team presented recent epidemiological and geographical findings, setting the results of initial cocci research in the broader context of modeling spatio-temporal variability of airborne dis |
